My studio space

Well over the Christmas break I spent time reorganizing my studio. Here are pictures of my space. I just love my studio.

I was asked by several to post pics of my studio.

I hope you like my space and if ever in Ohio we should craft.

Christmas tag swap

I was in a tag swap in December and as you can imagine that the theme is Christmas.

My paired partner is Rox Boyce and I wanted to create a very special tag for her.

I have a huge soft spot toward snowmen and decided that would be what the focal point of the tag would be.

Here is the tag I created and love it. It was hard not to keep for myself and have in my personal project stash of kept items.

I hope you liked my tag I created and are enjoying the holiday season.

Santa's top three gifts received

Santa was very good to me this year. I got several items I have been really want for my studio. ...

#1 - I have eyed this cart at Meijer a long time and I got one YEA

This is great cause I have frequently used items at a hands length when I craft.

#2 - with Tim Holtz sizzix die release there were many I wanted and I got a great stash of them on Christmas

#3 - Tim Holtz distress sprays. I have eyes these for sometime since there release and I broke down and bought them with some Christmas money I got.

There were many other things I got this year but these are my top three favorites.

Happy holidays all and happy new year.

Anniversary card

Here is an anniversary card i made my partners parents this year. They hit the big 45 year mark.

I had always been wanting to use the petal drop sizzix die that I bought awhile back to make a heart. So I knew that would be the focal point.

Here is the card I created using several elements, textures and styles to honor them on this great achievement.

I hope you like.

Tim Holtz December tag -the last of the series for 2015.

Well I have to say Tim Holtz this is my absolute favorite tag that I made from your direction of the 12 tags of 2015.

I think the way you tied in all the different products and elements were amazing.

I improvised when doing several steps and love my end result.

If you haven't made this tag go check out Tim's blog and look for December tag of 2015. It is just so much fun to make and great way to continue with the festive spirit.

I have a direct report at work and she loves my homemade cards. I decided that I would make her one and use the sewing machine.

Tim Holtz - November 12 tags of 2014

It is hard to believe autumn is here and the changing of the leaves into the fall pallet is occurring.

Tim Holtz November tag of 2014 is one that show cases the fall season.

I this this is a really cool tag as it showcases the autumn leaves and rustic feel of the season. When gathering my supplies I had to improvise on the die as I didn't have the layered leaf set die (but is in order and on my must have list for Christmas gifts). I chose to use the mini tattered leaves set done by sizzix (tim holtz).

Here is my stash ready to kick start the autumn season....

This tag used my favorite autumn colors from the distress paint line and the overall effect of the finished project is awesome.

Of course I will be revisiting this project in the future when I get the layered leaf die.

Here is my finished tag and I hope you enjoy and are able to make one of your very own.

Thanksgiving card made 2014

This years thanksgiving card for me was a challenge and driven inspiration for spirit. I lost my father in July of this year and was dreading the start of the holiday season. He was a great man and I know he loved how my creative exploration had expanded in being an artist.

When thinking about my thanksgiving card I wanted to incorporate several elements- card board, dimension, use of seeing machine and to have my favorite style of distress/vintage. So I embarked on the mental process of thinking what can I do.

In any process of trying to create something fresh, new and amazing you sometimes over think it. However, this year was a mental challenge as I wanted to do something that my father would love and appreciate if he were here (I know he was with me in spirit).

Supplies used in this project were:
- brown card stock
- card board
- a autumn background card stock (Authentique paper)
- gathered twig and walnut distress stain
- potting soil archival ink (Wendy Vecchi)
- Sizzix blueprint stamp/die acorn blue print (tim holtz)
- brown thread and sewing machine
- happy fall stamp
- adhesives, ink blending tool
- distress markers - gathered twig and brushed cordary

I then started my process of creation through playing with my materials to develop my concept and to then replicate it 18 times.

Here is the finished card I made and truly love how it turned out.

I hope you like and thanks for stopping by.

Tim Holtz- September 12 tags of 2014

The September tim holtz 12 tags of 2014 is really cool tag that allows you escape through a creative journey.

This tag incorporated alcohol inks and the use of several new products he released this year. They were CMS179 stampset and decorative strip die butterfly frenzy.

This was a great tag to make as it pushed my boundaries with the use of alcohol inks. This tag also expanded me as an artist in trying different techniques, styles and challenged my creative mind.

Kevin's Birthday card 2014

Kevin is a dear friend and the partner of my bestie Michael.  It has been a long standing joke calling him piggy.   Over the years we have bought him many pig themed items.  I thought it was only fitting to finally make him a birthday card that also proudly displayed a pig theme.

I made the following card that I had received in a kit from an online company.

Here is the card I created for him and made us all laugh/smile.

August Tag Swap

I was in an August tag swap and I chose to make one that stood out based on my interest as an artist.

My favorite look is vintage distress when making a piece. I chose to use a tea died tag as the background as the base.

I then incorporated several embellishments, a vintage photo, the use of a sewing machine and of course mared my work.

Here is a picture of the finished tag and I hope you enjoy as much as I did when making it.

Thanks,

Mom's birthday card

My mother turned 77 in August. She is a woman I adore, love and look up to for strength. This year with the passing of my father has been a challenge emotionally.

I wanted to make a card that relate to my mom's interests. She loves quilting and sewing. I received a very large button as a free gift and thought what will I ever do with this when I got it.

Then it hit me to use on my mothers card. Here is what I made her and am glad I found a great use for the button.

I used tim holtz framelit Sizzix birthday die set. I am loving the cupcake and the dimensional application it gives you.

Here is the card I made here, some what simplistic, but a great card in my opinion.

Tim Holtz-July 12 tags of 2014

This is another tag that makes you love summer and the desire to be in sun (an at the beach).

I have to say this is my most favorite tag to do this year in 2014. The use of distress glitter, paint, stains, inks, and embossing powder is amazing. The effect this tag achieves is AWESOME.

I have to admit I was not going to buy the bigz sizzix die sand & sea or the mini movers and shapers. But damn that Tim he got me hooked to buy it.

Here is my stash of supplies getting ready to make this great tag... (See below)

I think I may own stock in his company due to all my product purchases-hahahaha

Here is my tim holtz July tag of 2014. I enjoyed making this tag was so much fun.

I hope you try making this tag and enjoy in the fun.

Memory Boards made in honor of my father

My father passed away on July 19th and rocked my world. He was a man that I valued, loved, cherished and looked up to.

He was defined by his dedication to the family, relentless work ethic, love of wrestling, passion for dancing, and his comedic nature, his love for life, many uses for duct tape and his addictive smile. He could be found almost every weekend at Boonedocks cutting up the floor with his favorite hat.

My Dad was born March 23rd, 1936 in Petersburg to Rudolph and Helen Miller. He graduated from Pleasant Plains High School in 1956. On Sept 27, 1958 he married the former F. Earlene Turner at Bates Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Malcolm Stewart.

My father Carl Otto Miller was in the Army and employed in many facets through his life serving as a farmer, route salesman for PepsiCo and Archway Cookies, manager of skateland north in Springfield, Illinois, laborer at Nudo Products, security guard and most recently worked for Walmart to name a few.

He was a loving father, friend and inspiration for many and he would give the shirt off his back for anyone.

I made the following memory boards for the visitation/funeral to honor my father's life and many contributions.

I hope you like what I made dad in your honor and love you forever.
