Michael's Birthday card-April 2015

Michael is one of my best friends and he is the one that got me started into this hobby.  He showed me that I have this untapped creative capability that I wasn't aware was there.

We always make each other cards for our birthdays and here is the card I made for him this year.

I hope you like the card and thanks for stopping by my blog.

Marcia's Birthday Card-Apr2015

April 24th is Momma B's (Marcia Burkett) birthday and I asked her did she want a handmade card this year or hallmark.   She said what do you think and to guess.   I said a homemade one and she replied yes.  She will be 65 years old this year and can finally collect on social security.

Here is a picture of her card that I made and I used my sewing machine to add a standard stitch in the background.  The use of a sewing machine is becoming more prevalent in my pieces.

Tami's Birthday Card-April2015

My sister Tami's birthday is April 16th (today) and she is two years older than me.  So I remember as we were growing up how I would try to tattle on her.   This year she is 44 yrs old but next year she will be 45 and I will be making a really good card then.   For now though, I have made the following card and know she will like it.

I mean your sibling is the one to harass you most when you hit those milestone birthdays.

Tom's Birthday Card-April 2015

Happy Birthday to my partner Tom!   April 6th was his birthday and I always like to make him a unique card.   For this card I wanted to make sure it had a masculine, distressed and vintage look and feel.

Supplies used on this card:
  •  1 12x12 patterned paper cut down to size of 6.75in by 4.75in
  •  1 12x12 patterned paper cut down to size of 2.75in by 2.5in
  • CMS157 Time Travelers Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz stampset
  • Metal corners, buckle, ruler ribbon and long fasteners
  • Distress markers - gathered twig, shabby shutter, antique linen and the new color mermaid lagoon
  • brad and brown card stock, blue card stock
  • ripper, glue, pop-dots, ink blending tool, double sided tape
Those were the majority of the supplies used in this project.  I hope you like this card and thanks for stopping by my blog.

Easter Card 2015

Happy Easter my fellow crafters, friends and artists.  For my Easter card this year I wanted to make one that used bright colors.   Each time I begin the process to create a card I have to come up with the theme and sometimes I get stumped.

For this year's card I struggled to figure out what I would make.   Once I figured out my concept it was then to figure out the color pallet for the project.  In this project I decided to use my signature item the sewing machine.

I love how the use of a stitch into your project adds that additional layer of detail.  I also wanted the card to be dimensional and colorful.   So here is a picture of my finished project and if you have questions let me know.

Glad you stopped by my blog and hope you enjoyed my project.

Steampunk Canvas Swap

Good evening my fellow crafters/artists and friends.  I wanted to share a project I recently made for a steampunk canvas swap I was in for March.

This style (steampunk) puts me out of my comfort zone but as my friend Michael told me "Swaps are suppose to push us outside of our safe space"; so true.   For this swap I decided that I wanted to use a technique that I love to do called "Verda Technique".

In a previous post where I was in a container swap I provided in my post how to complete this technique.  So I used this technique as my based to the canvas.

I know that a true steampunk project has a good cross blend of masculine/feminine together with victorian influences (Michael again helped educate me on this).   So I decided for this project to use Tim Holtz dies for gears and pocket watch.

I then layered in metal embellishments and finished off with a stamped image.

I hope you like the steampunk canvas I created.  This was hard to give away once I completed it.
