I have a deep passion and drive to create art that will make someone smile, and my studio allows me to do this. Having a dedicated studio space allows me to tap into my artistic side and provides a refuge from the world. My area of expertise is making unique cards and tags with a distressed vintage feel by intentionally fading and marring my work. My proudest moments as an artist are when I hear and see how my creations have lifted other peoples spirits.

Card kit cards made
I had several birthdays lately and made the following cards. I utilized paper crazy card kits. These kits are great with the materials provided.
They also have instructions but have never been one to follow them. Hahahaha. I like to always add my own touch.
Hope you like these cards.

Canvas Swap- 2013 Lori
Happy Friday everyone. Well I wanted to share this canvas I made for a swap I was in.
My style is vintage distress and I love mixed media. Here is the canvas I made and really like how it turned out.
This was a canvas I not only tried to identify with the recipient but also that represented me as an artist.
I hope you like.

VDS Card Design - Project - Prima Lyric and Fairy Rhymes Main Kit
Well this week thus far has proven to be a challenge to find time for a design project. However, I did fit in this birthday card project I completed using the Prima Lyric kit that can be purchased on www.violetdivinescrapbooking.com.
When making this card I made a 5x7 (A7) card. I first took a sheet of 12x12 Kaiser Craft Cardstock Latte Weave and cot to be 10x7. The I folded the card stock in half to get a 5x7 card as my base.
I then took the 12x12 Fairy Rhymes "Flower Song" sheet and cut a piece to serve as my matte background. I distressed and roughed up the edge before attaching to the card.
I then took the 12x12 Prima Lyric "Box Office" piece of paper and cut out the object that I wanted to place on my card. After cutting out I then distressed sides and attached that onto card with adhesive.
I finished the card off by adding one of the wooden flourish butterfly's, one Prima flower, some lyric say it I. Crystals and gold crinkle ribbon.
Everything used in this project is contained within the kit besides distress ink, adhesive, blending tool, distress crackle paint and distress stains.
I hope you like and let me know if you have questions on this project.
Thanks and kind regards,
Trent

Prima Canvas Project - Prima Lyric and Fairy Rhymes Main Kit
My next project is a canvas wall piece. This was made with the Prima Lyric and Fairy Rhymes Main Kit that can be purchased on violetdivinescrapbooking.com.
I wanted to take this kit and create a canvas wall art piece. I utilized three different canvas sizes to create this piece. Below I have listed the supplies used in this project.
The first canvas (top) I used frayed burlap, Shimmerz Cotton Candy & Treasure Hymn sprays. I utilized these sprays and inks to develop the back ground. I then took the Prima Shabby Chic Celiing Adornments and used the Shimmerz Cotton Candy spray and distress stain Gathered Twig to give the adornment great texture and color accents. Then after drying I applied the ceiling adornment with adhesive tape to the canvas.
The second canvas (middle) I used the Prima Fairy Rhymes Collection "Flower Song" paper as the focal point. I took the paper and used Tim Holtz ripper to rough up the sides and then distressed out the sides with gathered twig. I then attached that to the canvas using adhesive tape. Across the bottom I applied some of the gold Crinkle Ribbon, merci pastel flowers, metal bee embellishment (not part of kit), and two of the stickers that are found on the Prima Journaling sticker set.
The thrid canvas (bottom) I used Frayed burlap Distress stain, Shimmerz Treasured Hymn and brown paint and applied that as the base coat for the canvas. The after drying with heat tool I then used the stencil and shimmerz patina to give it a cool look. I then applied random objects cut from the Flower Song paper. I also used two stickers from the Prima journaling sticker sheet.
Once all complete I then attached the canvas together using jump rings and screw eyes.
When making this canvas project I used the following found in the kit:
- 1 12x12 Prima Fairy Rhymes Collection "Flower Song"
- 1 12x12 Prima Journaling spot stickers - used 4 stickers from the sheet
- 1 pkg Prima Shabby Chic Ceiling Adornments

Tattered tag using My Mind’s eye kit materials
I decided for my next piece of work to make a tag that utilized products from the kit and some product from my stash.
I first started off with a # 10 size manila size tag (4 1/8” by 8 ½”). I used pumice stone and frayed burlap stains to give the tag an aged look and feel.
Then I took the sheet of Memorable “Hello” Friendly paper and ripped it jaggedly. I used gathered twig distress ink to then distress out the sides of the paper. I applied these two pieces of paper to upper left corner and lower right corner accordingly.
Then I used my sewing machine to stitch the paper into the tag using two different styles of stitching. I then took a journaling ticket and used a stamp from Tim Holtz stamp set CMS090-Going Somwhere- to give the tag a saying.
I then die cut out paper and cardboard with the tattered floral bigz sizzix die. I then utilized distress paints, distress inks to accent and color in the floral pieces.
I then used the brads that are part of the My Mind’s Eye kit and applied them to the floral pieces then used adhesive to attach to the tag.
I then took the butterfly sticker from the My Mind’s Eye sticker set and distressed the sides with gathered twig. Then I ran a coat of distress crackle paint (clear rock candy) to give it a shimmer look. Once I completed that, I then stapled the base butterfly on the tag in the upper left corner.
I then used the mini mover&shaper die to make butterflies out of chipboard. I used my favorite method of creating the butterfly by using distress dies, paint and crackle paint to give this the ultimate look.
I then applied those onto the tag randomly and used a word band in the left lower corner by attaching with staples.
You will notice that I used several items outside of the kit. For this project I wanted to show the versatility of the kit and how you can merge this with your current stash of products in your individual craft space.
I have not gone into great depth how to do each step but more high-level. If you have specific questions on this project let me know.
Products used from the kit are:
• 1 sheet of Memorable “Hello” Friendly Paper – My Mind’s Eye paper
• 5 brads from the My Mind’s Eye Decorative Brads package
• The large butterfly sticker from the My Mind’s Eye Decorative Sticker sheet
• Other scrap paper pieces from other My Mind’s eye paper to create tattered florals
Products used from an add-on kit are:
• Tim Holtz distress paint – antique linen
Products used not included with the kit are:
• Wendy Vecchi – Potting Soil – Archival Ink
• Tim Holtz Distress stains – pumice stone, aged mahogany, frayed burlap and salty ocean
• Tim Holtz distress paint – picked raspberry, peeled paint, walnut stain
• 1 Inkssentials #10 size manila tag – 4 1/8” x 8 ½”
• Tim Holtz idea-ology - 1 Journaling ticket
• Ink blending tool
