Valentine's Day card swap

In January the craft group I am in had a Valentine's Day card swap. I wanted to make something good for my partner cause it so happened to be her birthday too.

I first started the project by selecting my paper I would use on the project for this swap.

I then took the paper cut it to size and roughed up the edges and dirtied them up some.

I then used the sewing machine to frame out and edge the paper with a straight stitch and jagged stitch.
Once I had that done I then completed the project by placing on card stock, used stamps and embellishments.

Here is my finished project. I hope you love.

Thanks for stopping by.

tag request

I completed Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2014 for December. I had a request to make this tag two more times.

I have included a picture of the tags below.

If you go through my blog posts in Dec14 you will see the post I completed on this project.

It feels good to start getting my projects in backlog done.

Altered Container & Goodies swap

I am in a crafting group and we had an altered container challenge in January. I wanted to make one that used a special technique I learned from a fellow crafter.

I first started with a plain box.

I then started with doing a technique called verday. This comes in a kit that you can buy either online or at a craft store.

Step1:  When completing the technique you use one of the colors as a base coat of paint, or regular acrylic paint.

Step2: You then need a base coat of some kind to apply to the project.

Step 3: Once that is dry (if you use verday as a base, needs to dry for at least an hour), sponge on more VerDay paint randomly, and while that is wet, spray the hell out of it with the patina spray. Let dry!

Here is pictures as I worked through the process of doing this technique.

I like to have my piece to have a modeled texture and once I have completed all the steps I place glad cling wrap over the project as it dries.  You don't want to leave it on there the whole time as it dries as you don't want it to stick to the project.

Here is what it looks like after I have done the project and placed the cling wrap on the box.
Here is what it looks like when fully dried.

I then wanted to finish it off with embellishments, accents and flowers. My good friend Michael assisted me with helpful suggestions to use flowers and really pleased how this turned out.

Here are some pictures of the finished project.

I hope you like my project. It was fun to make and I hope my partner loves it.

Memorial canvas for my sister

I have had a project that I have delayed as didn't want to do it. The reason I put this project off was because it was a canvas in honor of my father.

I have made many canvas projects for people to honor lost pets and family members. This one was difficult being in honor of my father.

It was sad and emotional for me but it is now complete and I know my sister will love it. It is a great tribute to my dad.

Here is a picture of the finished project.

Love you dad. Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Tim Holtz - Jan15 - 12 tags of 2015

It is hard to believe that we are starting off another year with Tim Holtz and kick starting this with the January 12 tags of 2015.

With every Tim Holtz tag I make I first start out by looking through the instructions.   I always want to make sure I have the needed supplies.

Then if I am missing something I look to see if I can improvise with something I have in my stash or make a product run.

So I have got all my supplies laid out and now it is time to get started....

 #12tags2015

Loved in this months tag the technique done with the tissue paper.  Here is what my tag looked like through steps 1 to 12 of making this months tag.

In this tag I loved how we incorporated chit chat stickers and here is what my tag looked like after completing steps 13 to 21.

Then you took the tag in the next few steps and finished it off with splattering and distressing...Here is what my tag looked like through step 25.

Loved making this months tag and here is my finished tag.  I hope you get the opportunity to make this months tag and have fun.

Thanks for stopping by...
