Tim Holtz - Creative Chemistry 102 - Day 2 continued.  In this session Tim Holtz discusses stencils and techniques when using stencils.  We are taught Layering, Embossing, Stamping, Sketching, Monoprint.

Karen Knight Tag - Oct 2013

I wanted to share a tag that I made for a great crafting buddy that I have met through a crafting group I am in.    Karen Knight is such a great artist and has been a great joy to get to know thus far. It is great to meet someone that shares in your interest and hobby. 

Karen is from Australia and I am enjoying the friendship we are developing, sharing ideas, providing inspiration and having fun along the way.   Thanks Karen for all the great time we have shared thus far and looking forward to developing a long lasting friendship.

Tim Holtz -Creative Chemistry 102 - Day 1 - Distress Paints

 Well Tim Holtz had his Creative Chemistry 102 class October 7th through 14th
  Due to work I haven't been able to start the class and reviewing all the great projects and techniques.  So below I have shared Day 1 and what I made based on the Techniques he taught - Marbling, Colored Crackle, Altered Surfaces, Eroded Metallics, Stamping Resist, and Industrial.
The first day of this class was great. Tim gave a great tutorial on paints and their properties.  He then taught us six techniques.
DAY 1 - Let the fun and creativity begin.....

• First Technique - Distress Paint Marbling Technique. Here is the tag I made based on this technique.  Biggest thing learned and to remember is once distress paints are dry they are permanent and will no longer blend. 

• Second Technique - Altered Surface Technique - here is the tag I made to illustrate this technique. 

• Third Technique - Colored Crackle Technique   

• Fourth Technique - Eroded Metallic Technique -  this takes practice and patients.  It took me four tags to nail the correct effect. 

• Fifth Technique - Stamping Resist Technique -  really cool 

• Sixth Technique - Industrial Technique -  LOVE this

I hope you enjoy the tags I created on Day 1 of Creative Chemistry 102.   I am having a ball so far with the continuation of Creative Chemistry. I will now start Day 2 and be sharing the great techniques soon.

Chemist Tag - October 2nd

 I wanted to make a very special tag for someone very important to me to display in their office.  I decided to use the Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous - The Chemist stamp set.

Design Birthday card project

Last night I made a special birthday card for a dear friend of mine. I used the My Minds Eye Kit that can be purchased on www.violetdivinescrapbooking.com.

When making this card I utilized the following products contained in the kit:
- 1 Sheet of Memorable "Hello" Friendly Paper - My Minds Eye
- 1 Sheet of Memorable "Hello" Cordial Paper - My Minds Eye
- some of the Pink & White Bakers Twine - some of the white lace
- 5 of the Pink Divine Blooms
- 5 of the Teal & White Divine Blooms
 - Two of the My Minds Eye Decorative Brads

Items used not part of the Kit:
- Adhesive, glue dots, double sided tape
- word band
- Tim Holtz Alterations - Chip Block Alphabet Sizzlits Decorative Strip
- Tim Holtz Styled Labels
- Grunge board
- Tim Holtz Distress paints - walnut, broken china and salty ocean
- Tim Holtz gathered twig distress stain
- blending tool
- Tim Holtz Kraft-Core by core'dinations - No 21 - dark brown
- Tim Holtz Idea-ology sand paper and sander block
- Tim Holtz Idea-ology Word Bands - one from the pack

I first took my card stock and cut it to 10 x 7 and then made it a 5x7 (A7) size. I then used the gathered twig distress ink and distressed the edge of the card all around.

Next I took the two patterned My Minds Eye paper and cut the so that I could layer the patters onto the plain card stock. I again distressed out the edges with gathered twig to give it a vintage distress feel.

My next step was to attach those to the card stock with adhesive. I then cut out a decorative strip with grunge board. I used Tim Holtz distress paints Walnut / Broken China / Salty ocean by completing a layering technique. I used the sanding block to then rough it up and then distressed the piece with gathered twig stain.

I attached that to the card then I accented the piece with divine blooms, chip block lettering, lace, brads and word band.

 This was a really fun card to make and I hope my friend enjoys for her birthday.  I hope you enjoy this design project and thanks for checking out my blog.
